Japanese Hair Straightening

Japanese Hair Straightening is also called Thermal reconditioning. It is best for bulky, loose to medium-but not kinky-curls. The hair is saturated with a solution containing a chemical that breaks the bonds that give each strand its shape; it is then rinsed, blow-dried, and meticulously flat-ironed. Once a neutralizer is applied, the hair is locked into this new, straight configuration. The process can take up to 8 hours the first time (depending on length and thickness); touch-ups require 3 to 4 hours. For 3 days after the treatment, you can’t get your hair wet or do anything kink inducing (like wear a ponytail), and while your hair will now be sleek and shiny (even after air-drying), you’re left with one styling option: bone-straight. Even curling irons or hot rollers won’t restore volume or wave. Retail: $500~$1500. Our Price: $150+ Please call us for a free consultation and estimate.

Digital Perm / Thermal Perm

A digital perm is a perm that uses hot rods with the temperature regulated by a machine with a digital display, hence the name. The process is otherwise similar to that of a traditional perm. A normal perm basically requires only the perm solution. A digital perm requires a different solution plus heat. The biggest difference between other perms and a digital perm is the shape and the texture of the wave created by the digital process. A normal perm, or “cold perm,” makes the wave most prominent when the hair is wet, and loose when it is dry. The hair tends to look moist and as locks. A digital perm makes the wave most prominent when the hair is dry, and loose when it is wet. Therefore you can create the dry and curly look of the curl iron or the hot curler. Digital perms thermally recondition the hair, though the chemicals and processing are similar to a straight perm. The hair often feels softer, smoother, and shinier after a digital perm.
